"It’s a Grand Night for Swinging" was written by Billy Taylor. 
 
Taylor was an award-wining composer, lyricist, musician and composer who went on to become an Emmy-award winning newscaster, Peabody award-winning radio host, Kennedy Center series presenter, and founder of Jazzmobile. Taylor appeared on hundreds of albums and composed more than 300 songs during his career, which spanned over six decades.
 
Among his most revered composition, "It's a Grand Night for Swinging" was recorded by notable jazz legends Mary Lou Williams, Helen Sung, and countless others, along with Taylor's own original rendition.
